Aecetia: Okay, I’ll bite. Wicca? Druid? Zorostrainism? Good question on Merlin, too. I think the actual timing of the Arthurian legend is in dispute (there have been a couple of good movies lately that tie Arthur to the Romans), and that would drive what language Merlin spoke. Thank God we’re not going off on an arcane and obscure tangent here!
We did support Saddam in his war against the Iranians, and supplied him with everything from war materials to intelligence. I don’t think, however, we gave him the bootstrap capability to develop WMD. I could also be talking out my butt, since I don’t have facts one way or the other. I do know he used chem weapons against the Iranians and also against the Kurds at Halabja. I would be guessing these would be of Soviet manufacture, but, again, I could be wrong.
I’ve always found it amazing that some fairly ardent Leftist feminists are completely silent on Islam’s treatment of women. It would seem that they would be screaming the loudest. Of course, some of the more left-leaning posters here are fairly discursive in their replies, so it’s probably not as surprising as I am making it out to be.
