Absolutely! Because as Hitler showed us, it is so much better to appease power hungry ultranationalists bent on regional domination than to confront them.
The problem is that we’re bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan so we don’t have an army to deploy to the region. Even if we pull out, the readiness state of our army is currently very low. The reason why Russia feels like they can get away with it, is because we’ve lost a lot of our military power. They feel our threats are mostly meaningless at this point. The wars have made out country less secure, than more secure.
