8bit: Actually, there are some excellent next generation automated defense systems out there right now that would fit the bill. Single or twin .50cal M2 heavy machine guns hooked up to intrusion detection sensors on your perimeter fence or wire. We’d have to stockpile a shitload of .50cal, but its a completely automated system. Saw a live demo for one of these recently and it was pretty friggin’ impressive. Twin .50cals hooked up to a thermal imaging and CCTV system and run by a remote control operator over a mile distant.
