7 is supported on most hardware till 2019-20. Though supposedly the newest Core CPUs (Skylake) will only receive non-critical updates after July/2017.

Though I doubt that Nadella will stick to his guns on that, since business users aren’t migrating any time soon.

(Some are even stuck on XP due to compatibility issues.)
