I was very conservative with my first home purchase and regret not buying a larger more expensive home everyday of my life. I have been making double, triple payments every month since I purchased the home (I don’t like debt). I still think buying something you can truely afford is the way to go. Don’t max your self out. Not being able to make your payment is a lot worse then lost potential equity.
