There is an area in Murrieta we like called Greer Ranch. Up on a hill off Clinton Keith. Some homes have great views…gated community…minimum price is about $500k going up to about $1 million for the bigger high end homes way at the top of the hill…
we saw a nice floorplan home. built by Richmond Homes. It had a “for sale by owner” and “for rent” sign on the lawn. we call. guy answers…says he lives in Irvine, but will come to show us the house. we ask him when is it convenient..he says he can come that afternoon…. so we plan to meet.
we have seen several of these houses b/c the builder is STILL selling them. the builder is on the final phase and has 2 of these homes left…
we go inside expecting it to look like the other homes teh builder is selling. NO. this home was a stripped down example. no tiling came with the house, no granite, his backyard is a sandbox…and the poor guy has put in hardwood floors ont he entire lower level… a lot of it..and it looked horrible. it was obviously HIS work and it sucked. the seams were not lined up, the edges near the baseboards had huge gaps…no trim was installed to cover up the seams..it looked like beavis and butthead put it in.
the walls were gouged up… dirty… the hous was a cheapy stripped one…and then he ruined it with these horrid looking fake wood floors… not the heavy duty nice hard wood..but the flimsy stuff that echos when you walk on it… and it was installed terrible.
poor guy tells me he is a handyman.. in construction and had to move back to irvine..i suspect he couldn’t afford the house..
the sad part…is he probably paid over $500k for the house. the one the builder has for sale down the street has beutiful hard wood floors, upgraded carpet, granite, complete landscaped yard front and back….upgraded everything…S/s appliances.. (his were cheapy white ones)… poor guy will NEVER sell…
and at what he was asking/needs in rent..no one who has any sense of taste will rent the thing. this guy is going to lose it…
he seemed nice, but honestly..not the brightest guy. he is probably a perfect example of a lower educated person who makes no where near enough money to buy a hosue of this size/cost and just jumped in w/out reading anything, beleived what they wanted to believe..
geez i hope our tax dollars don’t get spent trying to bail these people out.
maybe if we have a hosuin bailout we should have a car bailout too. i could go to the ferrari dealer, buy a new F430..and then when I can’t afford the payments, complain to the feds that those horrid car dealers told me I coudl afford it, and now that i can’t afford the Ferrari i dreamed of, they should pay it off for me.. 🙂
That sucks.. I’ve seen craftsmanship like that before that really does remove all wind from any sail… so does this mean that for the house to sell, someones going to have to rip out the floor and replace it and any other eyesores? What kind of flipper will that be?
I still don’t see how the gov bails the people out, maybe the companies.. maybe that will be by creating some program that allows a person to convert their 30 into a 45 or 60 year? So the person ends up paying more, but the pain is distributed.. Don’t know, just don’t have much faith in the gov’s urgency to help the little guy after learning a little more about the promises/silent handshakes many politicians have to offer beforehand in order to get the funds to make it into office.. maybe I’m way off, I still do believe in the USA.. I do sense/hope that we’re approaching a time where a wave crumbles and from it comes a time less centered on money and more about family, community, integrity.
