You can say this for almost the entire US, unfortunately. San Diego isn’t unique. Oregon actually had a law banning Black settlement up until the 1930s, Portland is still considered racist. Queens, NY had active KKK and Daddy Trump was a member. Boston had literal riots over school segregation in the 1960s.
