As you say “they never do anything you say”… even BEFORE you handed the keys…
What do you think the kind of tenant you are going to be dealing with after you hand them the key?
Come on… You’re letting their family status sucker you into doing things you know deep down you don’t want to do… Social engineering at it’s finest.
Walk away already….Call your bank and refuse the wire transfer.
And talk to a property manager asap. I already sent you a contact for one….Make them go through the vetting process again. If they pass with flying colors, everyone wins…. And if they fail the vetting procesing of your property manager, you don’t lose… Get it? And if they get all pissy with it, let it be… Talk to a property manager asap to see IF they can help you at this point…..
This is painful to read, because it seems like a slow train wreck unravelling…And you’re at the center of it….
You are takin the easy, least path of resistance right now, because you’re afraid of doing the hard choices you should be doing, to minimize getting screwed….If there is a shred of honesty and truth in this “family”, it will all flush out in a property manager’s vetting process.. And if not, you will be thankful it did.
You are spending more time trying to convince yourself “nothing can be done at this point”….when what you should be trying to think about is “how can I stop this from happening”…..
You had every opportunity to walk away thus far, and you chose to not exercise it. The latest is when they didn’t bring cash, per your new adjusted terms….
