I work at my kids’ private school. It’s ridiculous, not because of any set rules, we just know there will be parent complaints if the kids use any of the play equipment in any sort of creative or different way.

This includes swinging the “wrong way” on the swing, spinning around or anything else besides swinging sedately back and forth in the same direction as everyone else. It also includes running.

I read somewhere that kids are so over protected when they’re young that they have no idea how to safely take care of themselves once they’re in college. Some pf my phone 14 year old’s friends have never even crossed a busy street by themselves.
