But we live in one of the most liberal states. Seriously, how do you find religion here oppressive to atheists such as yourself? I’m sure if you wanted to scratch off God from every dollar bill, I don’t think people would notice or care here.

We don’t say prayers in school. You’re not forced to go to church. You don’t need to marry in a church. And if you don’t like like what religious people say, you aren’t forced to listen to anything they have to say. In fact religious people are probably a minority anyway. What is wrong with just ignoring people? Yes, you might not like hearing all this religious stuff, but they have every right to practice what they believe as long as it doesn’t encroach on your right and doesn’t compromise someone(s) safety. That’s even the case if these folks want to act all self-righteous and condemn you to hell, or tell you what a horrible person you are. Whatever…..We are seeing the bashlash from these ridiculous religious freedom laws as a means for people to practice discrimination, and this happens as a result of democracy. So our system in a lot of ways is self correcting at both ends of the extreme. I hardly find things “oppressive”, especially in CA.
