But it’s still possible to save/build equity when single.
I didn’t get married and have kids till my late 30’s. I was already in my second “owned” home at the time. I was able to get some savings on the mortgage burden by having housemates.
Kids are definitely a cost adder. Not so much feeding clothing them, but the costs of college savings, medical coverage, etc. It adds up.
