I’ll just come down to your house and stay a while Brian. I’m already here. I’m staying. Make sure you’ve got a nice IPA in the fridge and maybe a good Pinot Noir.
Oh, and HBO. I’ll want to watch some HBO.
And make sure the AC is working well. I like it really cool at night, so I’ll run your AC to about 62, that’s a good sleeping temp. I can snuggle under the blankets.
It’s just a little expense, don’t worry, you’re a rich american and can afford it.
Yes, that’s a perfect metaphor for the life of an illegal immigrant.
As far as addressing the problem goes, what is the success criteria?
Is it even a problem for most people? (I have yet to be convinced that it’s a net problem for me.)
For employers who hire them, illegal immigrants aren’t a problem. They are a solution.
For the taxpayers who subsidize the profits of those employers, it IS a problem. It’s also a problem for those whose neighborhoods have changed from clean, safe neighborhoods to gang-infested barrios. For those whose incomes have dropped while cost inflation has risen over the past couple of decades…it IS a problem.
There are only a few groups (employers and illegal immigrants, themselves) who benefit from illegal immigration, and the rest of society is expected to pay for it.
