I figured it had to be financed some way other than by taxpayers but here is my question. This is far from the only recent example of this. Why do we build castles for the FD and leave the police in dumpy buildings behind strip shopping centers?

We now have the magnificent Chateau Double Peak at the highest point of San Elijo Hills with stunning views to Mexico border and the San Bernardino snow capped mountains.

We also recently added Casa La Costa built in the middle of a nature preserve and perched on the possibly the best view location in Carlsbad overlooking Box Canyon with stunning lagoon, ocean and sunset views. Some how they even got a huge west facing view deck to enjoy Happy Hour Margarita’s tacked onto the design.

Now we will have Castile de Rancho Santa Fe coming online with a design reminiscient of Chateau Montelena.

If I am sitting in the dumpy old station next to La Costa Resort or one of the older stations in Encinitas or Solana Beach I’m wondering when do we get upgraded. And how about our police dept’s? Surely they are worthy of such extravagence also.
