“A college degree is not necessary or even useful for a RE salesperson or broker job. Knowledge and experience are the only things that are useful.”
If that is what your expectations are for your agent then that is what you will get. By FAR and I mean VERY FAR, I find that the more educated an agent is, the more competent they are. If you think that your agent not understanding economics, or accounting, or how the bond markets affect interest rates, or how peripheral activities around the world may indeed affect interest rates, then you are being quite short sighted.
Real estate is absolutely not rocket science and education is not required at all. Which is precisely why most agents are idiots and why most people believe agents are useless.
This is exactly what the majority of agents who had plenty of knowledge and knew the areas that they worked in 2004 were telling clients, “Go buy, real estate always goes up!”
