    People can now review homes they’ve seen on ZipRealty. I gave a good review of my neighbor’s house for sale. You are asked to rate the home on 5 factors, and also give your own location, and whether you have seen the house in person.

    I love the customer review features. This is a fabulous idea!

    What a great way for a realty agent or property owner to get away with saying things about their property that aren’t true without having to worry about being sued for it!!! Log in under an alias and say whatever you want. I can see agents talking trash about their competitors’ listings.

    I guess you could say I’m a glass-half-empty kind of person.

    Some of the comments made in the MLS listings are about specific improvements or features. The rest is marketing – I ignore that part, don’t even read it.

    I think it’s a super idea to have reviews a la Amazon.com.
    Zip Realty should keep a database on the homes in perpetuity so history of the homes can been seen by everyone.

    I don’t read the marketing either… but certain buyers might like to read about the neighborhood, the neighbor from hell, the teenager who plays loud music, the flipper who lost his shirt, etc… The more information, the better.

    I’m also a glass-half-empty kind of person but I believe that people make better decisions with more data, not less.

    Bugs, I also hope this power won’t be abused. ZipRealty should ask for the poster’s name and address, but they don’t. I gave a nice post about my neighbor’s house, but I could just as easily have trashed it.

    for those of you that visit my site, you probably remember the house on Archer in San Elijo Hills being flipped by a foreclosure shark. anyhow, went ahead a put the history of price reduction plus the two previous listings in the comment section. we’ll see if these get printed.

    here goes, the review on the foreclosure shark property took. btw, he is now down to $627,000, it is Friday so we’ll be looking at another $5,000 reduction today.

    ZipRealty has NOT published my comment on a home down the street from me up here in Northern California. WTF. It wasn’t a bad review, just pointed out that a house that sold in 11/05 for 995K almost certainly was overpriced in 8/06 at 1.375M irrespective of concrete counter tops and marble kitchen flooring. It’s been a week since I submitted the review and so far NOTHING.

    I’ve yet to see any comments at all on Zip!

    I check some of the ‘older’ houses on my list, as they’re more likely to have had a viewing, but all that happens is I get sent to a blank page…

    I’m not able to see the comment I made either. I have to select “make a comment” to see it. I notified ZipRealty of this bug.

    As long as your review has no swearing and is factually accurate, I can’t see how or why they would remove it. They are selling RE services, not the property.

    I gave your review a thumbs up on their site.
