early, i’m surprised i havent heard about the checking miles, particularly since i’ve flown a ton of AA, know a lot of AA miles sluts :-), and no one has ever mentioned it.
the challenge with flyertalk is there is SO much on there, its hard to get through it, and even when you have read a lot of the posts, i feel like i need an advanced degree to figure out how to maximize accruing and then using miles.
the lifetime golds/plats i think has become a problem for AA with getting new/current fliers. there are so many EXPs floating around as it is, that its hard to get upgraded as plat, devaluing the point of getting that status.
well thanks for the tip, i feel like i’ve been missing out on a lot of AA tax free miles!
Funny about the “AA mile sluts”. LOL. I never quite heard it like that but I know what you mean. I have a lot of friends and clients that would deserve that title.
I agree about Flyertalk and the sheer # of posts on various topics (including many worthless topics). Many of my friends and clients never knew about it but I turned on many of my clients to these AA mileage earning checking accounts years ago so all of them are grandfathered in the program at BBVA.
I totally agree about it becoming a problem with the lifetime Gold/Platinum program and probably why they will eventually change it.
I haven’t had problems as an Executive Platinum member but I’m sure if I drop down to Platinum (probably next year as I will cut down on traveling). It will be interesting to see how it is then.
No problem on the tip. I always like seeing people getting the best ROI on their money.
