Consider it as a private company trying to pass on additional costs from the Healthcare Reform onto the consumer 🙂

But look on the bright side. At least you have the option to not pay and not use their service, unlike participating in something like Social Security.

Why not just get a system without any monitoring (but an annoying alarm…)
