What is being lost in this discussion is not who is saying the the violent rhetoric, but who is listening to it.
Polls schmolls, but this CBS poll is interesting:
Do you think it is ever justified for citizens to take violent action against the government, or is it never justified?
Republican 28% yes, 64% no
Democrat 11% yes, 81% no
Indepdent 11% yes, 81% no
I know, I know, Dan Rather probably cooked up those numbers. But would anyone really disagree with them? Everyone knows which is the party of the 2nd Amendment and its “remedies.” They’ve been proud of that fact for decades. So much so that they’ve fought common-sense legislation meant to keep mentally unstable Army rejects from getting firearms without a license. This is the false equivalency to which I referred up-thread. Post as many inflammatory quotes from Democrats as you want, it doesn’t change the fact that the right is the side with all the guns.
