IMO, this is a much better house with newish (expensive) vinyl windows installed, a double car garage, nice surround wall and what appears to be a remote controlled d/w gate and great private backyard. It also appears there might be some equity in it, (i.e. poss. room to deal). This property is superior to the earlier Ramsay Ave property suggested by AN.
If I was you and I had properties such as this to choose from in UC in my price range, I can’t think of any reason why I would look =>20 miles east or NE of my work. If the reason you needed a 4th bedroom was for a study, you could find somewhere else in a largish house such as this one to set up your study, IMHO.
You mentioned certain kinds of vehicles parked on Ramsay Ave and/or surrounds and also the fact that you might use your own garage for storage (leaving your own vehicles parked outside). It doesn’t make any difference what kind of vehicles are parked on the street as long as they are in running condition and do not block driveways and fire hydrants. I didn’t say I was discounting it, just that I wasn’t *that* impressed with the neighborhood. I care more about front yard maintenance and street cleanliness than about the vehicles – than about a COUPLE of RVs or boats ON the street. If there are TOO MANY of trucks or boats etc. it MAY not be a good match for us – as I can’t imagine we’ll ever be owning such a vehicle. Nothing against those that do and nothing wrong with those vehicles, just we have different interests and lifestyles. Diversity is good, but we don’t want to stick out by NOT having one. When we first looked at houses, this was the first thing our realtor drilled into us: look at vehicles outside – I guess to see if you’d feel you have things in common with your neighbors.
But back to the topic, let me get more familiar with the UC and see how much I like it. Yes, commute is great, schools are ok, but I have to like the neighborhood.
No, I don’t intend to park in the driveway, I was thinking of built-in storage cabinets and such in the garage.
The 4th bedroom is to have multiple functions – workout room and art studio. A den/loft could work, I guess.
Yes, this property is much better than the first one, totally agree. But still there are very few properties like this in UC at this time to choose from – a handful of acceptable ones in a year. Perhaps in a year or two there will be more. Same with MM. PQ and SR have more inventory so chances are higher we’d find something we like there.
I can only hope that properties like this will start appearing more often on the market and that the prices will decline a bit more in UC – one cannot beat that commute. I’d certainly consider this latter property on Ramsey, don’t get me wrong – if I feel the neigborhood is ok-ish – doesn’t have to be immaculate.
