J: Yup, in speech and debate it holds even less water than red herrings, strawmen or ad hominem. When you fire the Hitler shot, its pretty much an admission that you’ve lost.
For someone who isn’t skilled in argument or reasoning, you’ll notice pretty consistent use of ad hominem (“You’re an idiot; You’re retarded”), along with the use of non-credible sources, and specious “facts”.
BigGubment employs a hit-and-run style, and you’ll notice never responds with actual facts or a reasoned argument. He can’t.
