I think maybe if the world I think maybe if the world ever becomes more peaceful that may actually cause the USA to break apart (no need to huddle together for protection).
Once we get some sort of free energy all kinds of things become possible, DeSal would suddenly make water shortages a thing of the past, deserts turned into farmland etc..

Why do you assume that Why do you assume that climate change will cause social chaos? Sure, we could see some beach front property lose its value. Or some farmland could become unfarmable due to lack of rain. But other areas could become farmable. And Socal could potentially see more El Ninos, and thus more rain. Change, but no reason to think social chaos.
