Have her sign up for email alerts from Progressive organizations like A New Way Forward, change.org, the Sierra Club, and Food and Water Watch. This will allow her to stay abreast of local events as well as important political issues.

It was through an email alert that I recently learned of a calling party to help defeat proposition 23. During the hour that I participated, I was able to convince 7 people to vote against prop 23. Most people I talked to were already against it, but it was very satisfying to be able to convince 7 undecided voters to vote against it.
