Ever apply for naturalization through H1-B? Takes years….I had a H1-B friend..And she made a pretty off-humor comment…”At this rate (H1-B application status), I’d probably get my green card sooner by going into mexico, crossing the boarder illegally, and then qualifying for amnesty under the other naturalization route…..Plus I wouldn’t have had to pay all the federal, state, and social security income taxes throughout the years”….
Sad part, she probably does have a point.
Why be jealous of the opportunities of others? Tell her just to be grateful for her own opportunities.
Immigration is not mutually exclusive. It creates opportunities and economic growth for everyone.
BTW, as of now, there isn’t amnesty for unauthorized immigrants from Mexico. The Dream Act is targeted to students and the military who came here before age 15.
Your friend is still better off on the H1B route. Amnesty and the Dream Act are still in the future without any guarantee.
If your friend came through Mexico she would have have been able work and earn money under H1B.
She is fortunate and should support others who had to endure even more hardship. Walking through the desert to enter the US is fraught with danger and not exactly a walk in the park.
Uh, because it’s cheating the system. Why should bad/illegal behavior receive amnesty?
