Ding ding ding…. Totally agree.
The issue with the way government organizations work is that they work on a $0 budget. What this means is that at the end of the year, you either spend your entire budget or risk having your budget cut next year. So usually, this leads to waste because you end up spending on things that you don’t need.

I had first hand experience with this, working at a non-profit company that got it’s budget from the DoD….At the end of the years, dept’s that didn’t still had budget surpluses would end up buying random computer equipment, blowing $100k+ on machines that eventually were never opened from the box and just stuck in a suppply room. I was an intern, and a Aplha machine for instance was given to me. When I told folks I didn’t need it..They said, don’t worry, it’s not free and not your money anyway…The government is paying for it….
