Funny, my linked in profile says I’m an independent contractor…and some outsourcing company contacted me about outsourcing services they wanted to provide me. I read him the riot act about how he’s sending US jobs offshore for the cheapest cost at the expense of quality and people like him are directly affecting my ability to make a living.[/quote]
Dont worry about it. Because one thing for sure…The recruiting business is being outsourced. I’ve been getting calls from headhunters that are based in India recruiting for firms in the U.S. for local positions. It’s pretty funny, actually….
The last headhunter that called me (which I didn’t like, because he persuaded me to look into a startup and then said I was stupid for not taking a 30% paycut without additional equity compensation to offset (go figure)) ended up calling me back asking if I needed a recruiter because apparently he llet go and replaced by someone overseas….
Payback is a bitch isn’t it?
The majority of the recruiters aren’t really true recruiters with real connections. They are resume collectors and try to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks.. They often the forward the resume to a real recruiter with connections and get a cut IF the person gets placed. You can usually tell those posers because if you try to talk about the biz, they have no clue, while as seasoned recruiters (while not knowing exactly the details) can figure out what you’re doing….As for the posers, they’re just leeches who try to get your contact and everyone one of your contacts on linkedin, and end up bugging everyone on your network, name dropping you…I got a lot of hate mail from some of my contacts because apparently one recruiter ended up contacting everyone on my linked in profile that was linked to me for a QA position…even folks that were VP’s/Directors…Go figure….
