San Diego has always been behind other larger cities in support of Craigslist. Larger markets dont overprice everything like they do here.

In regards to a car, I would print out the pricing from the three main sources:

KBB
Nadaguides
Edmunds

Bring all three with you (especially if KBB is the highest) and do some negotiating.
