I’m not sure why everyone is commenting that Temecula wines are too expensive? Take Hart winery, they have 3 pretty good red wines (Merlot, Tempranillo, & Three (red blend))for under $20. And if you are a member they are under $15. No, it’s not $2, but you get what you pay for, the same reason why Guinness is more expensive that Bud Lite.
Last the Wine of the Year in Wine Spectator was $22/btl (Columbia Crest 2005 Reserve Cabernet). The #10 wine of the year is a great italian wine (brancaia toscana tre 2007) that I saw at a wine store in Encinitas for $22. There is a great Zinfindel blend called The Prisoner by Orin Swift that I’ve seen for $28. I picked up a Badge Chardonnay made by Kris Curran who was the winemaker at Sea Smoke (one of the top cult Pinot’s from Santa Rita Hills) for $15 last week. Paying $20 for Temecula wines when wines like that exist is silly IMO.
