Why do we pass resolutions condemning human rights abuses in China or in Cuba?
I’ve always wondered this myself, particularly about China. Because it’s a farce/hypocracy for our government on one hand to criticize about human rights in China, and on the other hand go begging the government if we can borrow money from them via T-Bills if they blatantly don’t give a hoot about what the U.S. government says.
Either put up or shut up imho.

Local governments, schools and universities were boycotting and condemning South Africa during Apartheid. Did that have an effect and did it bring about change?
Nope, but reading about it in papers did.

How about if Google condemns and boycotts Arizona?
If google is profitable and wants to spend their own shareholder’s money to do this, sure…But let’s not forget, government is not for profit.
