Why does everyone look to be for doing the most obnoxious things? Hey telemarketers need to make a living you know..Just kidding…:)
The right way: Register with the do not call registry.
Also, if they call you on a cell phone, tell them what they are doing is illegal because you aren’t allowed to make unsolicited calls onto a cell phone. (Existing companies you do business with is ok though). When you sign up for stuff, use your mobile number instead of your home number, and have the phone company unlist your phone number.
The FLU way: When you get a telemarketer,
1)Put on your politest voice.
2)Act like you might be interested.
3)Say “Wow that sounds very interesting. Can you tell me more…But wait, can you hang on for a sec, I need to turn off my tv/stove/or whatever)
4)Put the phone down but do not hang up the phone.
5)Go take your shower, bath, do the laundry, wash your car, etc.
6)You just saved the telemarketer from making more phone calls (he/she gets paid the same), and you saved a bunch of people from being harassed for the time spent he/she was on hold with you versus calling others.
7)If the person is still on, repeat 3-6 until he/she gets the idea. My record was 20 minutes. See if you can beat that.
Solution #2:
Start speaking a foreign language. Or better yet, imitate one. I like to start pretending broken engrish. “me no speaka engrish. Ya say two dolla? too dolla?”
I have a solution too if you get junk faxes in a fax machine if you have a cheap scanner type fax (the ones not using the sheet feeder).
….Get a 8×14 inch legal paper and draw a vertical line all the way down the middle. Feed the paper through a fax machine half way, and tape the two ends together. Make a fax call to the company that just spammed you..Hopefully, the remote side will run out of paper and and won’t bother you again.
Tired of getting junk mail from credit card companies? Send it back to them…Courtesy of their prepaid envelopes. Mix it up. Send Chase a BofA application. Send BofA a capital one application. Just make sure you rip off your name, address, and the barcode/id number they print on the paper.
Hmmmm….I’m giving people too many ideas. Maybe it’s time I start a second business publishing a book: “Don’t Get Mad, Just Get Even”
