You are making really good points of the true hazards of reckless handling of migrant worker but I must say your qouting her reminds me of the “last in shut the door” mentality that immigrants often have.
it is utterly perverse the way some recent (and even not so recent) immigrants view the civil rights movement and “the blacks”. there’s racism written all over it and if you ask, they won’t deny it. (goes both ways, of course, the outrage of some blacks over the preferential treatment of new immigrants… justifiably.)
immigrants are not einsteins. they’re just like any other folk, they are going to be selfish, short sighted and ignorant. just like the majority of “native” americans. it is incredibly depressing to know that most everyone you see, hear, know and interact with is a moron.
