Comparing the CX-7 to the Edge is apples to oranges since the CX-7 comes with a 244 HP 4 cylinder while the Edge comes with a 265 HP 3.5 liter V6.

The CX-9 does have a 273 HP 3.7 liter V6, which as you state is the same base Ford Cyclone engine as the Edge.
