O’Keefe

So I was looking on CL for a microwave and came across this add. It cracked me up. I think it’s a cool old range. If I had a historic house, I would be all over it.

This is what the ad said:
This is an OKeefe & Merritt vintage gas range which works but will need a good cleaning and service. I t has a broken handle (pictured) on the lower left door, but searching the Internet I found that parts are redily available. It is about 1949 give or take a couple of years.

I inherited it from my father and have used it daily since 1999 but alas the Princess (my daughter, 14 yrs. going on 28) and the Queen (you can guess who that might be) have decreed that they want a new range (although neither of them cooks and I suspect that when the Princess’ friends come over to the house she is embarrased by this behemouth). After all we must keep up with the Jones’ (Wong’s, Habib’s, etc., to be politicaly correct) and THEY all have modern appliances that they pay payments on instead of a good ole unit that works and I own…go tell.

Well when this subject first came up and the fight started you know what I told the Queen don’t you…after all I AM THE KING…I told her…yes dear (ya just gotta pick your battles).

Shipping and handling will have to be given depending upon your location but there will be a charge. Range is in Poway, CA. (San Diego).
