The family’s health insurance runs out at the one-year anniversary of his layoff from Alcoa. He said he would keep looking for a new job with benefits. But he won’t be looking for some big solution from Washington. “Socialized healthcare . . . It’s not the government’s responsibility to ensure that I’m insured.”[/quote]
Mr. Cardwell was a USMC Sergeant. So he’s eligible for VA benefits. He’s already part of a big government solution. Instead of being given a chunk of cash and directed to find his own private health insurance for the sake of self-determination, he can go to ANY VA hospital.
I don’t know why he doesn’t mention it?
As for the laid-off salesman/gun-lover, I sympathize. I love guns as much as any dudes but he picked gun rights over health care. What will he do if he gets hurt while cleaning his guns and has no health insurance? Go to ER and not pay the bills I guess? What courage. applauds.
