That’s exactly my problem with this program. This program isn’t trashing hard to find really old cars that are true gas guzzlers. Alot of the cars/trucks being trashed are in driveable conditions with ample parts that could be recycled and redistributed to others who otherwise can’t afford to fix their cars.
I would have just preferred IF the gov just handed out $4500 voucher trade in to the first X people that purchased a car that met a minimum MPG rating and been done with it. $..Factor in the cost of killing the engine, the pollution, the carbon footprint bring in a car wrecker, compact the car, and haul it to a scrapyard and multiple that by 1billion/$4000 => 250000 cars, more if an additional $2billion is approved.
Just ridiculous waste of good recyclable stuff. I wouldn’t have mind picking up that BMW 735 engine for a kit car project…
There are better ways to blow an engine by actually using them…shitheads.
