I have been following the flu since it started. A few things
1: This should not be compared to regular flu, It is a much different animal.
Regular flu affects 90% people over 65 that are sick already and the methods for calculating the number are just gestimates. To me it looks like a way to catagorize many deaths of old people with multiple problems. Apples and oranges.
2: H1N1 is most like the 1918 strain genetically. It is not like the 1976 scare.
3: It has penetrated the world population very quickly.
4: 1/3 of it’s victims are young and have no underlying condition. Pregnant women are most susceptible. 90% are under 65
5: It is mutating and has caused big problems in south america with hospitals being over run.
6: If it is going to be a major stress it will manifest this fall. The second wave of pandemics has been historically the most deadly than weaken after that.
7: At this point it does not bother me. However, it could be a major stress on the economy and our healthcare system if it evolves to something a little more deadly.
