Most People I know who left California (esp. because their employer left the state in the early 1990’s) always regretted it dearly later and have spent most of their time wishing they could come back.
Maybe look for another Job ??
Just my two cents.[/quote]
You know I’ve been swimming upstream since moving here, and haven’t improved my lot one bit. In fact financially I’ve probably gone backwards. I have really not even one month of savings (I know, I know). With whatever severance and 8 weeks or so of vacation I’d get by for 5-6 months. As closely as I’ve watched the market over the last year or two, I can’t imagine something suddenly popping up for me. I’d have to retool anyway, which would mean a drastic cut in pay, and likely being broke.
Also I’m told if I went to Orlando my in-laws would move down there (from Alabama). Apparently a ton of family in the area. My parents can’t even afford to fly out and see us, (though I fail to see how a 15 hour drive saves them much money). Hell they’d probably sell and move down too.
Despite all the positive reasons (financial and family) it would be an excruciatingly difficult move. I run a travel ball team, coach a ton of baseball got one son entering 9th grade, one in 7th and in our short time here we’ve “dug in” pretty well.
