Arraya: On this one, I have to respectfully disagree. What’s happening here has too much spontaneity and reminds me very much of Eastern Europe following the “collapse” of the Berlin Wall.
It might have started out as a planned event, but things are escalating far too quickly now.
How the Iranian government handles this from here on out will be very interesting. Initially, I felt that these protests could be quashed by the Basij Militia and the IRGC forces. Now, I’m not so sure. At some point, you hit critical mass and the shit really hits the fan.
All of this could have been mitigated with some really sordid back room and back door dealings by the clerics, but now…
