you don’t “have to” get A’s or even do your best in school. I know i didn’t do my best. Because of superior gaming skills, I ahve usually been able to nail grades precisely because i didn’t dig too deeply or work too hard. I was naturally able to get the lay o the land, focusmy minimal energies on the areas i knew would be graded, and score. But most kids don’t “have to” do anything but show up, and behav, more or less. they dont ahve to expend any mental energy. I’ trying to give hima little push to focus. perhaps there will be no reward later, but maybe the pattern wil be set. will he rebel and no longer work simply because he’s “addicted” to a monetary reward? i doubt it. i think probably people should focus their energies on things they’re rewarded for and not focus their energies on things they’re not rewarded for in life. that’s generally a more efficient way to live…
