I posted this awhile ago… If you’re willing to venture outside of san diego, there’s a few opportunities that came up in Washington state one with a big firm, and something else with a bigger firm (recent). Good firms that I would bite if there was higher level of responsibility.
Let me know if you want the recruiter’s contact.
I work remotely most of the time from SD, so I’m not quite in tune with all the immediate dynamics of the local SD markets…Unfortunately, the opportunity hirings from outside SD all have *not* been telecomuting friendly. (I was grandfathered in, and sort of to pull this off, you have to build a trustworthy rep over a longer period of time).
Some buddies of mine tell me two bigger firms just did some “right-sizing” over the past two weeks, so over the next two weeks, they’ll probably be a flood of resumes circulating the markets.
My advice…If you are unemployed and if you don’t have a family or mortgage to worry about, take any leads you get in the west coast. You can always turn remote offers down when something better comes up. Technically, I’ve been “on the market” for the past 5 years. But i haven’t found anything better here that pays comparable to what I have now and gives me the level of responsibility/flexibility.
There are two contract positions for EAI work locally at two telco companies I know. I think the duration is 3 months. But the prequisite is you must be familiar with the packaged app they are using (I think it was either tibco or software ag, i forget).
