I won’t even engage in a debate as to whether or not a person is worth their salary/pension, I wish we could pay firefighters more if we could afford it.

The fact is we can’t afford what we pay them now, and we need to reduce their salary and benefits as it is.

That goes for most gov’t workers as far as I’m concerned.
