Yeah but GM sales were down last year too when the Japanese brands were not. Remember $4 gas? Everyone was out looking for a Prius last year. Now everybody’s out looking for a bus pass.

Thanks for making my point Rogdog. When the Japanese brands are doing well, the press shouts it from the rooftops.
When the American brands are, nary a peep.
The press is in love with the Japanese mfrs and does everything they can to toot their horn.
No mention of how well GM and Ford did in comparison to Honda, Toyota, Nissan.[/quote]
Press has been pretty positive on Ford lately. And you know what, because Ford is building decent products these days….
There is nothing to be positive about Chrysler’s fleet right now…
And frankly, GM, they are eliminating a good portion what I would consider their crown jewels (Saturn, Opel, Pontiac, probably Holden with that).
The current Buick Lacrosse (the one partly designed in shanghai china) kicks butt.
Minor point though I just wish though that GM would just spend a little more money in market research and come up with slightly better names instead of pick a name that happens to have a “masturbation” connotation
But that again is part of my point i’ve said in the past. Auto creation from start to finish doesn’t just happen in one location anymore. Bashing toyota/honda/bmw/vw for being imports is a stupid as bashing ford/gm/chrysler(soon to be fiat) for perceived american quality issues.
