When I want high end, I pull out the Punch Punch, H. Upman Magnum 46 or a Partagas D4. ;-0

Having been in more than one gunfight, I wouldn’t be taking a pistol at all. Where I come from, if you’re down to your sidearm, you’re fucked and about ready to meet the Big G (God). Same thing goes for skinning that Randall, Gerber or Ka-Bar blade: Your rifle and pistol are both dry and it’s time to go out hard.
A nice armorer in Panama built up a 1911 for me using the best parts of various other 1911s. It was a standard issue .45ACP with no bells and whistles and it worked fine the two times I had to use it up close. Because the bulk of operations were jungle (engagement distance of 25 meters or less on average) my carry weapon was a Remmie 870P and, close in, there is nothing better on the planet than a 12ga. pumpgun.
Pretty little race guns are fine for shooting bowling pins, but you better de-horn the shit out of that bad boy before you consider it ready for a gunfight. A friend of mine is working security in Bogota and had 20+ years with the SEALs. He carries a Wilson and swears by it. It’s his second, the first having given up the ghost after multiple years of use in the worst environments out there. He ran the gamut of SOF operations, including Red Cell and Team 6, so I’ll take his word for the superiority of the Wilson over anything else out there.
And Larry Vickers? Puh-leeze. We didn’t call it Delta Farce for no reason when I was in. Special Forces is way too inbred; just take a look at Desert One. Nope. Rangers Lead The Way. Hoo-ah.
