DW, I have looked at one of the Belarados in 2003-2004 when they were sold. And I recently drove through the complex. I agree with you that it is well made, and the upgrades were fantastic. And I really LOVED that storage space. Proximity to grocery store/shopping mall was also a huge plus. (I know, I am spoiled too, as I rent in LJ Colony, near Vons). HOWEVER, I couldn’t shake out the feeling of dryness and sterility, with the buildings too close together, way too much concrete on the ground and almost non-existent green spaces with grass and flowers. Patios were very sterile IMO. Not much landscaping at all. To some, that maybe a huge turnoff.
Maybe I didn’t see it all, and maybe it has changed, but to me, it didn’t feel like a place I would like to own in. It could have been much nicer landscape in the surroundings, to soften that impression of cookie-cutters and concrete jungle. Inside, yes, it’s great and perhaps many people don’t really spend time or give a thought about outside as long as it’s clean and relatively quiet.
