Seems to me the gas mask is kinda overkill. A novacane(sp?) shot on the other hand seems reasonable to me.
You probably should get a gauge of your kid’s pain tolerance. For example, does your kid get crabby if he falls down on the ground? And the second thing is you’ll need to figure out what’s your kid’s comfort worth. It’s a personal decision.
