I will be rooting for the chargers all the way… it is just that the pessimist in me does not see them as being all that good, especially on defense. Our resume is includes 2 wins against the jets and pats at home when both teams sucked. Beyond that we have a pair of should have losts to the chiefs and a pair of victories against the raiders. The victory in Tampa was nice but by my eye, if Garcia does not miss a few WIDE OPEN deep patterns we have a different outcome.
Now I do find some hope with the fact that we played the colts and the steelers pretty tight this season. Those losses were tough to swallow but could be helpful if we do manage to bumble into the playoffs.
I still think we are just woefully poor on the defensive front. Our O line is showing a faint pulse but without any pressure not only will Peyton eat us up but Cutler may have a field day as well. If the bolts do not double Brandon Marshall I will be steaming. I recall when I went to the super bowl to watch them get crushed in 96 (or 94) and all weekend I kept telling my wife, damn they better double rice… What happens? No double team and rice goes crazy. I think like the first play from scrimmage young hits him in the slot for a touchdown. How can anyone do that? The bolts go on to get thier heads kicked in. For a small period of time I think in the second or third quarter rice is out for a series or two and the bolts actually stop the niners. Then he comes in and boom, game over…
Anyways, the chargers to me this year more then any other are like the girl who you had a crush on but kept stepping on your face in junior high school. Each time you say that is it, I am done with that girl and then she shows you a little heart and you fall back only to see her kick you in the face again.
My heart is with the bolts but the ponies and 9 points is a tough bet not to take especially on a clear day. I also like the over.
