Cbad & Allan, I can’t believe someone is so lacking humanity that they are organizing this action. Ironic, isn’t it, that someone so blessed financially to be able live in Carlsbad can be so mean towards those with less, in this case less being less mentally.
I could understand not wanting the mentally ill in the neighborhood. They are unpredictable and potentially violent. I know from experience in my immediate family.
But I also know from experience that the mentally retarded are in general harmless and usually much nicer than most people.
Most of us will end up mentally disabled if we live long enough – Alzheimers and senile dementia are on the increase.
There is a valid issue in the e-mail – the use of taxpayer funds in purchasing an inappropriate home. I understand concerns about lack of accountability in spending taxpayer money; I just wonder if the author of this e-mail also plans to protest the ridiculously expensive, money losing Carlsbad golf course:
