I wouldn’t necessarily stay away from ALL apartments. Several of the apartments in Temecula are VERY nice. I lived in Solana Ridge (across from new Abbott building) when I first moved. It was great, very quiet, newer and I met a bunch of teens my age that became good friends. There is another apartment near Temecula Elementary – Tuscany Ridge I believe, that is a clone of Solana Ridge – also nice. There are a few apartments on Rancho California rd that are newer and pretty nice. Basically the older places look their age and you can pretty much tell which ones have issues. The Harveston apartments get good reviews from my friends and most I’ve been to in Murrieta are pretty decent.

Trust me, even the more “shady” places are still very safe and decent to live by. Random street violence is pretty much non existent. The city is actually very well run and purposely built senior apartments to meet the low-income requirements from the state. There are new low-income apartments being built in Old Town, but the money being poured into the development there (especially with City Hall relocating) will prevent the area from becoming run down and unsafe.

The biggest issue right now would probably be the massage parlors. They aren’t sleazy or shady looking at all, but it is becoming a bit extreme. We’ll see how the city handles that (I personally don’t have a problem with them, but it hurts the family-friendly image of the place a bit – moreso than Pechanga).
