What matters is we can print dollars and give them to the people from whom we borrowed the dollars.
Here is what you are missing. The reserve currency status gives the USD value because it keeps demand up. Analysts that look at this range the value added to around 50-90%. If it loses status other countries won’t want them especially if we print more, which would further reduce value.

You right it is simple. The US can’t continue to run up an infinite amount of debt on a shrinking economy. Sometimes the unsustainable becomes sustainable in an unpleasant way. There is an endgame which is coming quick.
