An example of non-money making companies would pill research companies hoping to sell remedies for big money.
Americans have been popping pills for the last 20 years. They are sick of pills and are unlikely to pop more at $5 a pill (unless the pills actually cure something).
For example, we don’t need more prescription pain killers when aspirin, Tylenol, and Advil work just fine.
Another example would be highfalutin telecom products. The carriers will be limited in their capital expenditures by operating cash flow. Companies won’t be able to raise easy money for capital expenditures, so they won’t have the money to buy hardware and software to sell “wishful thinking” products to their tapped-out customers.
Americans are unlikely to let their phone bills escalate upwards as we enter recession. They can download all the ringtones and movies online for free.
