When I was looking for a rental in January 06, I called some of the places that advertised “no dogs” and some were negotiable, because although they prefer no dog, they were not getting any renters. Thus, they didn’t change their ad but were becoming open minded as they got more desperate.

With record vacancies, I think landlords will get more open minded.
